This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how Christian Velez (referred to as “Developer”) collects, uses, and protects the personal information of users (“User” or “you”) of the Vel mobile application (“App”).

1. Information Collected

1.1 Personal Information

The only personal information collected by the App is the user's email address, used exclusively for account creation, authentication, and communication related to the App. No additional personally identifiable information (such as full name, phone number, or address) is requested or stored.

1.2 Financial Data

The App allows users to enter personal financial information such as account names, balances, amounts, transaction descriptions, categories, and any other data manually entered by the user. All financial data is stored exclusively on backend infrastructure hosted on Vercel. No third-party providers receive or process this data.

2. How Information Is Used

The collected information is used only for the following purposes:

  • App Functionality: Displaying accounts, transactions, analytics, and other features to the user.
  • Machine Learning Model Improvement: User-entered descriptions may be used to improve a classification model developed and hosted by the Developer on Vercel. No information is transferred to third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI or similar services).
  • Educational and Non-Commercial Purposes: The App is part of an academic project developed with educational intent, not commercial intent. Data is used only to support and enhance the User's experience and the App's functioning.

3. Data Sharing and Selling

The Developer does not share, sell, rent, or disclose any personal or financial information to third parties, and the App does not include advertising, analytics services, or any form of third-party tracking.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Users may delete their account at any time. When an account is deleted:

  • All associated data is permanently and irreversibly removed (hard delete).
  • No backups, logs, or replicas containing personal or financial data are retained.

5. Security

All data is transmitted and stored using industry-standard security practices. While no system can guarantee absolute security, the Developer takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard User information within the Vercel-hosted infrastructure.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13, and no information is knowingly collected from such individuals.

7. Changes to This Policy

The Developer may update this Policy periodically. Any changes will be reflected with an updated “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
